      FICKES, Edwin Stanton, civil engineer, was born in Steubenville, Ohio, Nov. 3, , son of George Jackson and Mary Gibson (Akin), grandson of Andrew Jackson and Elizabeth Manly (Hukill) Fickes. Married Marguerite Webb. From until his death Fickes was associated with the Pittsburgh Reduction Co. and its successor, ALCOA. He was a Vice-President until his retirment in Views: 2K. His father was a member of the Society of Friends, and his mother was a Methodist. They both despised slavery and instilled this belief in their son.
